20-somethings don’t want a bigger ILC with a bunch of features and upgrades, they want a point and shoot that can take retro photos.

I want to get into street photography but I’ve always felt pretty self conscious about it. Your great video has given me the confidence to try it! Your use of the mirror lens is cunning! I have a wide variety of focal lengths in my kit but I’m not sure which to try. I wonder if 135mm would be a good compromise?

There's a ton of folks who don't want to be photographed & the presumptive disrespect here blows my mind.

I was into photography years ago and just fell out of the hobby. The Canon M50 definitely brought me back and now I'm looking to by a new higher end dslr. I'll be keeping the M50 as it's an amazing everyday travel camera. For the price it's one of the best you can get!

I own a nikon d5300. Is it worth selling and buying a new device? I've been looking at a 20mm lens with f 1.8 and it's a whopping 500$ for just the wide lens for my d5300... maybe just get a new camera?

I do that also and then feign frustration like the camera isn’t working right. Sometimes I pretend I’m framing the shot, take a few pics, impatiently look up and pretend the person was in the way of my perfect shot. 😂

I find the peak design straps a bit too robust - sure they’re never going to break, but they’re thick and don’t pack up easily. I do like that they’ve got sticky on only one side and are smooth on the other, i don’t like sticky and that allows my camera to slide across my back without issue. Funny, i was thinking camera straps - never mentioned or searched - and this popped into my feed this morning.

'Quality' as a word has multiple meanings. 2 that come to mind are almost at odds with each other in modern digital photography. The common interpretation being a lack of imperfections. The other looked over meaning is the impression something gives; eg. how an inkjet print on matte art paper looks vs a light print on satin finish photography paper. Neither are described as better or worse, but they have different redeeming 'qualities'. The thing with lenses, they have inherint redeeming rendering qualities, but adding extra lens elements to correct for imperfections dulls or removes their unique qualities. You'll hear many people praise 50mm lenses from middle of last century for their lively depth rendering. And you'll hear complaints that the latest Nikon mirrorless lenses render boring clinical 'perfect' images. The difference is that newer lenses have double or more the amount of elements and coatings to correct for imperfections, and when you filter the light that much, you filter "life" out of it. The problem with modern photography is that the people reviewing the equipment are not reviewing them for how they make art and make people feel; they only review hunting for imperfections. Even Fujifilm makes lenses that render lifeless now too. But their first generation of lenses (and sensors for that mater) rendered with so much depth and vibrancy. These cheap lenses produce lively pleasing results because they have fewer elements. They allow the light passing through to retain more of it's vibrancy.

Fujifilm and possibly other cameras as well let you edit a raw a little in camera, that can then be shared to a device

Dont look down at the LCD, look sideways as your finger press the button. If your camera is small enough try holding it with your left hand at waist level and press the shutter with your left thumb.

The Olympus "Pen" obtained its name in the early '60s as a wonderful 1/2 frame 35mm film camera. I bought the latest "Pen", the E-PL 10. The features built into this interchangeable lens m4/3 camera are truly amazing.

Funny story it happened to me 😂😂😂. A Woman was walking her Dog and I just said: can I take a picture. She said No. in a rude way. I just turned around and said: I Was asking the Dog if I can take his picture 😂😂 😂😂😂

I can recommend the Fuji 60mm f2.4 lens, with prefocus or hyperdistance focusing. Also using a Fuji X100 range of cameras, but the must inconspicuous street camera IMHO is a late model smart phone! Tip if you are forced to delete a picture, you can usually undelete it as long as you stop taking more photos after the deletion!

Oh and smile! Look like your having fun, people enjoy that. Never Ever point your camera near children though. thats a golden rule. People go nuts if you look like you even breathed near them.

I’d suggest the sigma 90mm f2.8 as a good 85mm-ish lens for street for E and L mount.

Yup! Exactly! I just noticed I have been doing that intuitively and never thought about it 😂... Thank you all the useful advices!😉 These simplistic videos help me a lot as a beginner!

If someone asks "Did you take a photo of me?" and you did, don't reply "yes" or "no", instead pay them a compliment first and then mention the photo. Something like, "I saw you and immediately thought you have a great look, so I did take your photo" Then you might get "You should have asked first" to which you can reply, "When I've done that, people tend to pose and the photos are less natural looking. Would you like to see the pictures you're in, I can show you some of my other work too if you'd like? I'll delete the pictures of you if you don't like them." It's pretty hard for most people to remain angry and confrontational with someone who's complimenting them and telling them how awesome they are. Whatever you do, don't respond to their confrontation with escalation, chances are that they were just caught off guard or startled in some way and responding to that. In the end tho, If they're insistent, just delete their pics and go on about your day.

I think it's worth mentioning that you can easily take multiple images and stitch them if you have a static subject. You don't "need" a super wide, but it makes things more convenient.

There is a reason its legal to takes photos in public.. i personally couldnt care less if anyone wants me to delete a picture of them.. its simply not their right to demand that.. no one should expect privacy in a public space.

I just got into shooting street and this has been my main concern for years which held me back. My first couple sessions were with a 58mm and it didn't go so bad, I had been already doing some tips from the video. I got super lucky and found a mint copy of the Minolta RF Rokkor-X 250mm f5.6 for cheap when compared to ebay. Can't wait to try this "invisibility cloak" out!
